How to Control Emotional Ups and Downs

It's precisely . . . the quality of peace that you must needs practice. Practice tranquility. Practice perhaps a half hour each day if you can, remaining very tranquil, not so much as in the meditative state, for then one is divorced from the world and though that is tranquility, it bought at an easy price. No, I say practice watchfulness over your own self as you go about doing what you normally would but keep in mind that your goal for one half hour is tranquility and then do as you like. What you'll find if you are truly vigilant is that you inadvertently would allow even the smallest things to upset your equilibrium. Most do. It's simply a matter of the, well I'm loath to say it, but rather the bestial nature that one yet finds, I'm afraid, quite prevalent upon the earth plane. People taking without asking, no respect, you know, assuming this and that, constantly suspecting their fellows of misdeeds, etc., this kind of thing.
Tranquility when practiced, and I do mean it as a discipline, but again with eyes wide opened, you understand, going about your regular day, but with that as your point of mindfulness, brings one to a place, when the effort is made, of objectivity, for you insist, you see, on being tranquil, thus the potentially irritating element has no power over you. And you get to see what it is and your own over-reactionary patterns and it truly helps and goes a long way toward being able to say, "None for me, thank you. I don't need that upset. I don't need that telephone call that is inadvertently designed to worry me or anger me. I'll just be very tranquil in the face of all of this. And in so doing what you are saying is, "I prefer the tranquility of my own soul to what damaged goods this situation or that might be trying to hoist upon me. And you win. You win, as you say in your world BIG TIME.
